Hastings is the most deprived town in the South East and amongst
the most dependent nationally on public sector employment. A Five
Point Plan for economic recovery, led by a public-private
partnership - Sea Space, has been successful in driving new
investments against challenging economic conditions.
GENECON has been advising Sea Space for several years on
strategy and funding, including the development of business cases
for key investments. The funding cases for Lacuna Place, a major
new business location in the heart of the town, a new University
campus in Priory Quarter and new business facilities at Queensway
Business Park were led by GENECON. Our submissions were
instrumental in making the case to Government for innovative
mechanisms to unlock private sector funding streams and deliver
real economic change in this priority town. We have also supported
the case for Regional Growth Fund to support the continued delivery
of the Sea Space programme.
