Prof. Stuart Gulliver

Stuart is Emeritus Professor of City Development at the University of Glasgow and an elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
He was for 10 years the Chief Executive of the Glasgow Development Agency where he provided the leadership for the radical transformation of the City of Glasgow and its economy.  Glasgow, as a result, has become one of Britain's success stories of the urban renaissance.

Stuart has worked at the highest level in both city and regional development and against this background of achievement, he has developed both an academic base for his particular experience as well as extending that experience by working with, and in, other cities in the UK and Europe.

In recent years he has acted as 'Strategic Economic Adviser' to a number of major British cities including; Sheffield, Newcastle, Stoke-on-Trent, Bradford and Doncaster.  He has also undertaken international advisory roles in Zagreb, Rotterdam and Dublin.
His particular professional and research interests are in city economic performance, the theory and practice of sub-national economic development and the role of leadership in city and regional turnaround.
