John Holmes

Associate

John is a Chartered Surveyor and has over 30 years experience in both a strategic and delivery capacity operating throughout the North of England in areas of project management, urban regeneration and economic development gained in senior positions in the private and public sectors.

John was CEO of Hull Forward, one of the country's first Economic Development Companies. During this time he has also been a Governor of both Hull College and Archbishop Sentamu Academy and a Board Member of Hull Business Improvement District. He led the promotion of key growth sectors in the city, including of healthcare, digital innovation, renewables and port logistics.  In addition Hull Forward managed the World Trade Centre Hull & Humber and also hosted the highly acclaimed Bondholder Scheme.

As Director of Regeneration & Tourism at ONE North East, he led a wide range of regeneration projects from the Tweed to the Tees in addition to leading on the Regional Tourism Strategy including the award winning Passionate People, Passionate Places campaign.  He was also a Board member of Tees Valley Regeneration, Sunderland ARC, Buildings for Business and Hadrian's Wall Heritage Ltd.

Other previous roles include Project Director of Newcastle Great Park (one of the largest mixed use developments in the North of England led and Managing Director of Paramount Homes Ltd (private rented sector development and management subsidiary of The Home Group)

John has been recently involved at a regional and national level in various urban development policy issues as part of his involvement with the RICS and member of the Steering Group of UK Regeneration as well as playing a key role in the national URC/EDC Chief Executive's group.

Current work includes

  • Assisting an FE College in an education business brokerage / ambassadorial role;
  • Working with a Local Authority in presenting opportunities to the development / investment market;
  • Working with various organisations on Local Enterprise Partnership proposals and delivery plans.
