Future local growth requires sound analysis and focused
strategic thinking. The need for fresh intelligence and robust
analysis of economic and social prospects has never been more
acute.
The context for refreshing economic visions of towns and cities
is unprecedented - local, national and global economies are in
unchartered waters and, as they emerge from recession, need to
adapt to a new government, reduced public sector funding and new
spatial and institutional models based on Local Enterprise
Partnerships.
GENECON prepares local economic assessments and place
diagnostics, reviewing local assets and understanding the economic,
social and spatial relationships of towns and cities.
We have:
- prepared the economic evidence base to support Strategic
Economic Plans, including for Coast to Capital, Tees Valley,
Sheffield, and South East LEPs;
- prepared an assessment of the economic potential of Newhaven as
a growing economic asset on the Sussex coast;
- prepared socio-economic profiles of a range of towns and
sub-regions to support growth planning, including Blackpool &
the Fylde Coast, Bournemouth, Redcar, Ripon, Tees Valley,
Grimsby.
- assessed the 'state of the economy' in Thames Gateway Kent,
identifying economic themes for local growth promotion;
- analysed local economic performance and business sector
strengths to inform new visions and strategy for cities including
Sunderland and York;
- completed economic assessments of specialised economies, such
as coastal towns, including Hastings, Brighton, Scarborough, Cowes,
Dover and Barrow and rural market towns;

further investment planning in the Yorkshire & Humber
region;

to guide future strategy and investment priorities across the Leeds
City Region;

Partnership's programme of enterprise and business support.
